Town Councilor - At large - three year term

My name is Tom Cardon, and I am running for Town Councilor At-Large. I have lived in Derry for 34 years and am a retired high school teacher. With my experience on various town committees, I bring valuable knowledge to the Town Council. Currently, I serve as the Secretary of the Net Zero Committee and have been involved with both of Derry’s energy committees for 16 years. The projects we’ve worked on have saved the town nearly a million dollars annually in energy costs. Our latest project—a solar array at the closed Derry landfill—will produce enough electricity to power all our municipal buildings.

I regularly attend Town Council and School Board meetings, and this year, I served on the Derry Schools Fiscal Advisory Board. I’m proud of the committee’s work, especially our efforts to level-fund the school district’s operating budget. I’ve also supported the School Board's initiatives to address the critical needs of our schools’ infrastructure.

The following issues are important to our town, and I will work to support them:

• Promote commercial, retail, and business development in the Gateway District whilemaintaining its residential integrity. 
• Collaborate with Londonderry to complement development along the 4A corridor. 
• Mitigate the impact of hundreds of new apartments on Derry's infrastructure. 
• Ensure that mixed-use developments include the required commercial components.
